The Backs of Benches

On a walk I took this week, I took the picture below of a bench I saw in a park. I noted the discolorations and structure of a bench that is not in the public view. This is not the side that is used by the public so this is not getting polished by the backsides of the public.

I've recently started using Markdown for my note taking. The discussions on having a plain text collection for my notes to keep them future proof has made this a necessity. (See A Plain Defense For Plain Text by Donald Brown). Markdown has a structure that uses text prompts to tell a Markdown viewer to make the text useful for the future reader. This structure is written in plain text but becomes hidden in a viewer. The link above and the way the picture below was added are written in Markdown.

I really like markdown. It is simple and very useful. I think the back of that bench is beautiful. It is this side of the bench that caught my eye (which is on the opposite end of my backside). It is the hidden parts that make up the structure which is the real beauty of these things. Inside of everyone are hidden parts that hold them up, that make them useful, that in the end make them beautiful.
